Artificial Nature ● 풍경과 사물들이 만들어낸 사이에는 무수하게 발생된 모호한 풍경들이 있다. 그 안에서 발견된 인공자연물은 사람과 사물 또는 사람과 풍경과의 경계를 혼란스럽게 만든다. ● 인공자연 조형물들은 일상 공간에서 흔히 발견할 수 있는 사물이다. 이것은 어떤 특정 공간만 있는 것이 아니라 우리의 일상에 자연스레 나타나 지루한 풍경과 충돌한다. 때로는 형상이 매우 조악하게 느껴지기도 하고 낡고 부서진 외형에서 오는 혐오감 마저 느낄 수 있다. 그런 조악한 풍경 안에서 사람들은 무감하게 살아가고 있지만 이것은 사람들과 관계하는 어떤 의도가 있다고 생각했다. 불분명한 정체성을 가진 이 풍경들은 지루한 일상적 풍경 안에서 사람들에게 어떤 이상적 장소와 연관되는 풍경을 가리키며 또 다른 유토피아적 풍경으로 끌어들인다. 내가 말하는 지점은 이런 부조화하게 만들어진 모형자연을 통해서 어떤 이상적인 풍경 속으로 사람들을 끌어들이는 모순된 행위에 있다. 자연의 모습으로부터 과장되고 교묘하게 위장된 도시 속 인공자연물은 사람들이 연상하게 되는 이상적 풍경으로 끌어들이고 관망하게 하는 욕망의 상징이다. ■ 안경수

Artificial Landscape ● In the gap made by landscape and objects, countless ambiguous landscapes occur. The artificial natural objects found in those ambiguous landscapes confuse the boundary of humans and landscapes. ● The artificial natural sculptures are objects often found in spaces of the everyday life. It appears naturally, not merely in a specific space, but in our everyday life and collides with the dull landscape. At times, forms seem to be very shoddy and even feel a sense of disgust coming from the worn and shattered appearance. People live numbly within such shoddy landscape, however, I believed that there was some kind of purpose into it that relates with people. This landscape, which possesses an uncertain identity, indicates the landscape related with an ideal place within the dull landscape of the everyday life and it attracts people into another utopian landscape. The point in which I speak is on the contradicting act of attracting people into an ideal landscape through such replica of nature made in incongruity. Exaggerated from the appearance of nature, the artificial natural objects within the elaborately camouflaged city is the symbol of desire which attract us into the ideal landscape people associate and put us in wait-and-see situation. ■ ANGYUNGSU
